Meet Piera in New York

Meet Piera in New York

"It is literally a lifetime experience, it helps grow your experience baggage and yourself as a person"

Why did you choose to go abroad?

I feel like it was a calling since I was very young, like when you are drawn to a place and its culture. I chose New York because of its incredible energy, I feel like this city and all about it will help my personal growth and will challenge me to improve myself. Thanks to Stage Global and their incredible support I made my dream come true.
How does the US culture differ from your culture and what has impressed you most so far?
I believe that each of us experiences the culture in a different way, here life is fast-paced, but I still manage to have time to experience new things. One of the most noticeable differences is that New Yorkers are really open, they will talk to you and just randomly compliment you.
Could you take us for a day? What are your routines?
My typical day starts around 7:30. Of course I make my espresso and then I get ready for work. I am lucky because I live within walking distance from my workplace. I do sales and graphics for a custom printing company. Usually, I get off at 6 pm, and after that, I usually go and try a new gym course, which could be yoga, pilates, or kickboxing… once I’m done I take a shower and hang out with my friends. I like to have dinner at home during the week and meal prep my lunch for the day after.
How has this experience abroad helped you to grow personally?
Living abroad is both exciting and challenging, mostly when you live so far from your family and friends, this gives you the confidence and courage to start building your relations and create your own space. I feel that from my abroad experiences I learned how to be more open towards people and different cultures, I feel more brave and confident. My wanderlust and hunger for knowledge have and continue to grow day by day.
Why would you recommend others to do a program abroad?
It is literally a lifetime experience, it helps grow your experience baggage and yourself as a person. Once you get out of your cocoon and comfort zone, you can really understand what you are capable of and you can experience a self-discovery journey.
If you could express your experience in three words, what would these be?
Exquisite, eventful, gratifying.
